HONOR has officially confirmed the upcoming arrival of the HONOR X9e Pro in Malaysia, following the device’s surprise appearance at the country’s National Day parade. The announcement also introduces a new Pro model to HONOR’s X Series for the first time, with the “e” in X9e representing “EXTREME,” and we suspect this will be the prevailing theme in the company’s marketing efforts.
The ‘e’ In HONOR X9e Pro Stands For ‘EXTREME’
The smartphone is being positioned around three “EXTREME” upgrades: battery capacity, drop resistance and water resistance. HONOR has indicated that the X9e Pro could feature one of the largest battery capacities in the industry, though the exact figure has not yet been disclosed. We suspect it’ll be at least 10,000mAh given that recently-launched mid-range smartphones from Chinese brands, including the vivo V80 Lite and the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max, have both achieved such figure.
On durability, HONOR said the X9e Pro builds on the X Series’ existing reputation for toughness, a factor the company said has contributed to the line’s popularity in the market. The new model is set to introduce upgraded protection against accidental drops and everyday impacts, but again, no concrete figures or claims just yet. Regarding water resistance, HONOR said the upcoming smartphone is engineered to withstand more demanding conditions than previous X Series models.
The company noted that the X Series currently holds a position as Malaysia’s best-selling mid-range smartphone series, and said the X9e Pro is intended to reinforce that standing.
