Updated @ 15:26 28/08: Xiaomi clarified that the pre-order will remain open until 4 September 2026, which has been corrected in the text as follows.
Xiaomi has unveiled the REDMI Note 17 Series, introducing four new models, including the first-ever “Pro Max” variant (wink wink, Apple). The series brings larger batteries, faster charging, enhanced water and drop resistance, and a new design language that, admittedly, is not going to make it stand out among the sea of iPhone 16-lookalikes.
Leading the lineup, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G features a massive 10,000mAh battery (Xiaomi’s largest to date in a smartphone), alongside the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 (4G). Durability and longevity is the key selling point here, where Xiaomi is also touting longer software support and performance guarantees to achieve that.
Meet The REDMI Note 17 Series

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G are the first devices to earn TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality Certification, a standard which Xiaomi helped develop; it covering drop resistance, water resistance and battery performance through lab and real-world testing. Both Pro models achieve full certification across all three categories, while the REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 carry TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification.

Silicon-carbon battery is all the rage among Chinese smartphone makers, so it’s no surprise the new lineup got a big capacity boost across the board. The Pro Max’s 10,000mAh battery features 16% silicon content, and it is paired with 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging; the Pro model features an 8,340mAh battery with 67W HyperCharge, while the standard 5G and 4G model come with a 7,700mAh battery and 45W fast charging. Xiaomi claims these batteries retain 80% or more capacity after 1,600 charge cycles (roughly six years of typical use).
Both Pro models also feature “REDMI Titan Structure” reinforced hardware design with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K water resistance ratings, a 2-meter, 72-hour water-resistance test pass, and a new Underwater Mode. Both are SGS-certified to withstand drops of up to three meters onto granite, aided by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a reinforced mid-frame and impact-absorbing internal cushioning.

Xiaomi boasts a redesigned camera module, flat display, rounded corners and a dual-finish back panel for the new lineup, though it is certainly not going to stand out when all smartphones basically followed the same idea in designing smartphone these days. (Try finding a smartphone that isn’t “flat display and rounded corners,” with a square camera bump as a bonus. We’ll wait.) The Pro Max is available in an exclusive Cloud Blush finish with a photochromic back cover that shifts from white to pink-orange under UV light, while the Pro 5G comes in a Sky Blue finish.
The Pro models feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, while the standard 5G and 4G model offer rather big 6.99-inch AMOLED equivalents. Chipset-wise, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, while the Pro runs on Snapdragon 6s Gen 4; the Note 17 5G has a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, while the 4G model uses Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 (with older CPU core architectures) instead.

Pokdepinion: Says new design, only to make it look exactly like every single other smartphone out there – I don’t think that is a flex that Xiaomi thinks it is.
