Starting 17 March 2025, TNG Digital will be rolling out TapSecure for Touch ‘n Go eWallet Visa Card online transactions. Available since 2023 for the eWallet itself, TapSecure is a one-tap approval function that replaces SMS One-Time Passwords (OTPs), which has been considered ineffective in recent years.
TapSecure Now Available For TnG eWallet Visa Cards
With TapSecure, users are to authenticate transactions directly within the TNG eWallet app, which helps reduce the risk of account being compromised by phishing attacks and intercepting attacks such as SIM Swap or SS7 exploits. TnG Digital says this feature also provides faster approvals while maintaining security for all Touch ‘n Go eWallet Visa Card transactions. Under the hood, the system links transaction approvals to a single registered device, so only the authorized user can approve payments.
The approval process is the exact same as most banking apps. When a transaction is initiated, users will receive a notification to approve the transaction in the TnG eWallet app – simply tap ‘Approve’ and you can proceed with the payment. Do make sure the app notification is enabled in your phone’s settings to make this work, in case they get inadvertently blocked by the operating system.
