CGC Digital and Credit Bureau Malaysia (CBM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at helping Malaysian MSMEs better understand their credit position and access financing. The partnership, announced on 23 July 2026, combines CGC Digital’s digital platforms and MSME reach with CBM’s credit information and risk analytics capabilities to address one of the most common barriers facing small business owners in Malaysia.
CGC Digital Partners With CBM
Under the collaboration, CGC Digital and CBM will explore the development of credit risk models and analytical solutions designed to deepen understanding of MSME needs and strengthen decision-making across the financing ecosystem. Both organizations will also look into joint education and outreach initiatives, leveraging their combined networks to reach a broader group of business owners.
The initiative targets a gap that affects many Malaysian small businesses: the lack of visibility into their own credit standing and what financing options are actually available to them. By pairing CBM’s credit analytics with CGC Digital’s digital ecosystem, the partnership aims to give business owners clearer, more practical guidance on improving their financing readiness.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Evan Cheah, Sunway Group Deputy President and CBM Chairman; CBM Chief Executive Officer Soo Chin Kang; CGC Digital Chief Executive Officer Yushida Husin; and CGC President and Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Nazri Omar.
CGC Digital is the fintech subsidiary of Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC), established in July 2022 to simplify and digitalize financing access for the MSME segment. CBM, founded in 2008, is a licensed credit reporting agency regulated under the Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010 and jointly owned by Sunway Group and CGC. CBM holds the distinction of being the first credit reporting agency granted access to Bank Negara’s Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS).
Pokdepinion: Malaysian MSMEs have been told to “go digital” for years, but knowing your credit score and what lenders actually want from you is arguably more useful than any app, this partnership at least seems to be tackling the right problem.
