Telco operator Tune Talk announced that eligible subscribers can now use complimentary E-Roaming in Saudi Arabia while performing Hajj or Umrah – in other words, they can use their existing data allocation while travelling, without purchasing separate roaming passes.
Free E-Roaming For Malaysian Pilgrims

Note that unlike the previous announcement which offers the feature for local travelers visiting selected 13 countries (Saudi Arabia being one of them), this one opens up E-Roaming service to Epik+ 35 and Epik+ 28 subscribers as well – provided they have subscribed to said plans for over 6 months. Otherwise, any purchases of Epik+ 50, Epik+ Family or Epik+ Family Safe plans will do.
Each eligible subscriber with a MyKad is entitled to one month of complimentary E-Roaming in Saudi Arabia; for Epik+ 25 and Epik+ 28 subscribers who have not met the tenure requirement, they can purchase E-Roaming separately as an add-on.
Tune Talk points out that the service activates automatically upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, without requiring activation codes or additional steps from subscribers. This effectively slashes the roaming expenditures for Malaysians performing Hajj and Umrah down to zero, from a claimed figure of RM89-180/month according to industry estimates and prevailing market rates. Pretty big deal, considering over 300,000 Malaysians visit Saudi Arabia for this reason.
Pokdepinion: Considering overseas travel can get expensive quick, this is a big help.
