Tune Talk’s new prepaid feature sure will sound enticing for overseas travelers: the Tune Talk E-Roaming (Enhanced Roaming) allows subscribers to use their full domestic data allocation abroad at full speed and without needing additional roaming purchases.
Tune Talk E-Roaming Gets Rid Of Roaming Surcharges
Effectively, signing up plans with this feature means you do not need to do anything at all to go online, provided you’re in one of the 13 countries listed. The idea is you simply tap the mobile data icon once you landed, and you’re good to go – with the same 500GB data allocation and unlimited speed applicable whether you’re at home or abroad. In Tune Talk co-founder and CEO Gurtaj Singh Padda’s words: “while traditional carriers continue to treat international roaming as a high‑margin, pay‑as‑you‑go profit center, Tune Talk is absorbing these costs directly.”
That’s a big contrast against conventional approaches: as the telco CEO pointed out, international roaming has traditionally been sold as a separate, capped service with limited allocations and reduced speeds, while E-Roaming is instead built directly into the RM50/month Epik+ 50 prepaid plan (while a comparable plan costs RM156/month), requiring no registration, activation code, or separate roaming package. Oh, did we mention full speed, too?
E-Roaming is available in these countries: Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Brunei, Japan, South Korea, India, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and New Zealand – all of which represents a large share of outbound travel from Malaysia, Tune Talk says. Additionally, the feature is also available on the Epik+ Family and Epik+ Family Safe plans, so kids get the same treatment as well.
