YES First In Malaysia To Launch 5G Services

The folks at YTL Communications has today announce that their YES telecommunications services will be launching 5G services in selected markets in the country, starting from today. This would make them the first Malaysian telco to do so.

YES 5G Prepaid Plan

The company has prepped up both prepaid and postpaid 5G packages. With the launch, they are launching a series of special 5G plan that includes unlimited 5G access until the 1st of April 2022. Customers who sign up to any of the plans will be able to experience the fifth and latest generation of mobile technology, offering higher speeds, reliable coverage, reduced latency, with a supported 5G phone of course.

If you are interested in signing up for their 5G plans, here’s how to:

  1. Sign up to a YES FT5G Plan here, from an authorized dealer, or 163 MyNews Outlets across KL, Putrajaya, and Cyberjaya
  2. If your smartphone supports 5G, activate the SIM through the MyYes App and insert the SIM into the phone to instantly experience 5G. If you are outside of 5G coverage, YES’ 4G network will be utilized instead

At the moment, 5G coverage areas include Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, and parts of Kuala Lumpur City Centre, with plans to expand to the whole of Klang Valley by end-2022.

Pokdepinion: I wonder when will the rest of the telcos follow suit. Too bad the coverage is really specific at the moment. I guess the rest of the country needs to wait a little bit longer to enjoy 5G coverage.
