TNB Offering Up to 40% Discount on Electricity Bills

With Malaysia still under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan, the government will be introducing and extending assistance for its citizens. For this particular one, TNB will be offering up to 40% discount on electricity bills for the next 3 months.

TNB Offering Up to 40% Discount on Electricity Bills

As part of the PEMULIH initiative, TNB will be offering up to 40% discount on electricity bills for the next 3 months starting July 2021. This initiative is said to be worth RM346 million is set to help citizens on necessities since most people will still be stuck at home.

According to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, the discount rates are as follows:

• Under 200 kWh = 40% discount
• 201 – 300 kWh = 15% discount

Furthermore, there will be an extension of the 10% electricity bill discount for businesses affected by the lockdown. It will be extended for another 3 months, effectively lasting until December 2021. This part of the initiative is said to be worth RM1 billion, with hotels, theme parks, convention centres, shopping malls, and tourist agencies being eligible for it.
