The Fastest Web Browser on Mac Got Even Faster, Guess Which?
Google Chrome Got Even Faster on Mac
Speed has shaped our work since #Chrome’s launch in 2008. Three months ago, we recorded the highest score on Apple’s Speedometer — and now, Chrome is 20% faster on Mac, scoring over 360. pic.twitter.com/FO3t06c9p3

It was about 3 months ago when Google Chrome took the crown as the fastest web browser on Apple M1-powered Macs. Now, Google claims that they have gotten even faster, a 20% increase, based on a Speedometer 2.0 benchmark result.
When they first took the crown, a 10-core M1 Max-powered MacBook Pro with 64GB RAM was used, and they managed to get a score of 300. Unfortunately, we do not know if they used the same machine to achieve the higher result.
For comparison, my Alienware m15 R3 (Intel Core i7-10750H with RTX 2070 SUPER and 32GB DDR4 RAM) on Opera GX in Windows 10 got a score of 128, which is essentially a third of what Google achieved. Running Google Chrome on the same machine yielded a score of 154.
While it’s a far cry from what Google achieved here, it does show that Google Chrome is typically faster regardless of what you use it on, even when compared to other Chromium-based browsers like Opera GX.
Pokdepinion: For as long as this continues to be trend, I expect them to continue holding the crown as the most popular web browser for a long time.
