Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia Official Launch Date Revealed

For those of you who are wondering whether Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia Premier Access will be a thing, it will not be available for now. Apparently, Malaysian subscribers will instead have to wait for Premier Access content to be made available on the platform later after their release in the cinema, and also wait for the exclusivity period on Premier Access to expire for new movies.

In case you didn’t know, Premier Access is an additional offering on Disney+ on top of the subscription, where you get to enjoy the latest movies as soon as it’s launched in cinemas. These movies will eventually go to the regular version of Disney+ within a matter of months, usually 3 months after, so if you’re willing to wait, you don’t have to pay extra for it.

Some of the notable movies made available as part of Premier Access include Mulan, Raya and The Last Dragon, and Cruella. Disney has confirmed that Cruella will be available on both Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar in August 2021, which would give it a 3-month period before the exclusivity expires.

While it’s not available at the moment, they may consider making Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia Premier Access available at a later date. When that happens, we will report it as soon as information becomes available so stay tuned.

Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia is officially launched today, on 1st June 2021, and it has a subscription price of RM54.90 for a period of 3 months, meaning it’s RM18.30 per month, but you have to pay for 3 months upfront every time.

Pokdepinion: Personally, I wouldn’t pay extra just to watch those movies as soon as it’s out, especially if I’m already paying for the subscription. Might as well just wait it out and use the money for something else, like good food or snacks to enjoy while watching shows on the platform.
