Rakuten Kobo has recently launched Kobo Plus subscription service in Malaysia, offering unlimited access to over two million eBooks and more than 300,000 audiobooks in three monthly-based subscription plans. The service is available on the Kobo Books App for iOS and Android, as well as on Kobo eReader devices.

With the global eBook market valued at USD 18.02 billion in 2025 and expected to grow to USD 22.76 billion by 2030 at a compound annual growth rate of 4.78%, the expansion into Malaysia aligns with increasing digital reading demand in Asia, the company stated in its press release.
“With Kobo Plus, we’re making reading more accessible and flexible than ever, giving book lovers the freedom to explore a vast and diverse catalogue without limits. Whether it’s discovering new authors, diving into different genres, or reading across multiple devices, Kobo Plus is designed to fit seamlessly into the way Malaysians read today—and how they’ll read tomorrow,” said Michael Tamblyn, President & CEO of Rakuten Kobo.
The Kobo Plus catalogue includes bestsellers, literary classics, thrillers, romances, nonfiction, and more, with new titles added regularly – subscribers can choose from three plans: Kobo Plus Read for unlimited eBooks at RM27/month, Kobo Plus Listen for unlimited audiobooks at RM27/month, or Kobo Plus Read and Listen for unlimited access to both eBooks and audiobooks at RM35/month.
