WhatsApp was set on introducing a number of privacy-based features, including the highly-anticipated disappearing messages. Now, iOS users can get their hands on it early in the latest beta version of the popular messaging app.

As many of you already know, disappearing messages already made its way to Android but not for iOS. Now, WhatsApp beta for iOS finally has the feature, which means it wouldn’t take long before the feature makes its way to the final version for everyone to use.

The disappearing messages feature isn’t limited to just texts as it can apply to media as well, such as pictures, videos, and audio. In this case, it will disappear as soon as the receiver has seen it, which means they can only view it once. It’s also aptly called “view once” but it can only be used if both the receiver and sender have the feature.  Texts on the other hand will only disappear after 7 days.

In case you were curious, there is a dedicated timer in the caption input field when you send media, with a notification being sent as soon as the receiver opens it. With that being said however, the receiver can still take a screenshot before it disappears anyway.

Pokdepinion: I still can’t believe Telegram has this feature for so long but WhatsApp is still struggling to put it in theirs. Either there must have been some major changes in the system infrastructure or the developers aren’t certain of how to properly implement it. Only time will tell, I suppose.
