You Can Now Send Photos In WhatsApp In Higher Resolutions
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg just announced through Facebook that WhatsApp is getting another feature update – this time, users can send photos in higher resolutions. “Sharing photos on WhatsApp just got an upgrade – now you can send in HD,” he wrote in a post.
That being said, by default Standard Quality will be used when sending photos as the developers intend the app to “remain fast and reliable”. Users can, however, tap the “HD” button in the photo upload menu to send the photo in higher resolutions; however it wasn’t specified if image compression may still apply to keep the file sizes reasonable. On the receiving end, users with low network bandwidth can choose to download the photo in standard or HD resolutions as needed.
Just like its regular messages, all HD uploads remain end-to-end encrypted; Meta has also hinted HD video uploads at a later date. For now, the HD photo upload should roll out in the upcoming weeks.
Pokdepinion: Good feature. Preferably if there’s an option to upload without additional compression – but a higher resolution is a good start.
