Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed that WhatsApp now will receive a new update to implement screen sharing in video calls. It’s worth noting that screen sharing already exists in Meta’s other messaging app, Messenger, and even on Instagram’s video calls.

Much like other Meta apps, users can share their content simply by tapping ‘Share’ button and choose to share a window or an entire display for other users to view. Coming along with the screen sharing feature is the landscape mode – making a more effective use of screen real estate for viewing shared content.

The feature was first tested under beta back in May this year, although WhatsApp has confirmed (via TechCrunch) that the new features will roll out in phases across all major platforms, including Android, iOS and Windows. This means you may not see the feature available immediately – which you’ll just have to wait for now.

Pokdepinion: Surprisingly late addition, but better late than never.
