WhatsApp, the popular messaging service owned by Meta, has commenced testing the highly anticipated message editing feature on its beta versions for Android and iOS. This feature, which was initially introduced on the Web interface, is now being extended to mobile apps. Let’s delve into the details of this exciting update.

Enabling Message Editing on WhatsApp Beta

WhatsApp Brings More Security Features Behind The Scenes

According to WABetaInfo, a renowned feature tracker, WhatsApp has activated the message editing functionality on WhatsApp Beta for Android version and WhatsApp Beta for iOS version

Users who have installed or updated to these beta versions through Google Play and Apple’s TestFlight can access the Edit message option via the three-dot menu (Android) or the long-press menu (iOS). This functionality aligns with the recent WhatsApp Web beta update that introduced message modification capabilities.

WhatsApp has set a time limit of 15 minutes for editing messages across all platforms, including iOS, Android, and Web. Apple also imposes a similar time limit on text editing within the Messages app. However, while iMessage restricts editing to five times, it appears to have no specific limit on the number of times a message can be modified within the designated time frame.

Although message editing is currently available for beta testing on Android, iOS, and Web versions, WhatsApp has not provided an exact timeline for its release on the stable channel. Users can expect the feature to roll out in the coming weeks, along with other beta-tested features. One such feature is the ability to silence unknown callers, aimed at combatting the increasing prevalence of spam and scam calls on the messaging platform.

WhatsApp is making strides in enhancing user experience by introducing the message editing feature for beta users on its Android and iOS platforms. With the ability to edit text messages within a specified time frame, they aim to provide greater flexibility and convenience to its users. Keep an eye out for the official release of this feature, along with other exciting updates, in the coming weeks.

Pokdepinion: I’m about pretty sure this will save a lot of unnecessary stress, especially for introverts, when they accidentally typo’d something and deleting stuff seems a bit overkill.
