Apple has announced major software updates, which includes iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26, are now available for download. The primary design change for all operating systems this year is the introduction of “Liquid Glass”, though there’s quite a few changes as well.
New Apple Operating Systems Updates Now Available
iOS 26 includes customization for the Lock Screen with adaptive time displays and 3D spatial scenes, along with improvements to Camera, Photos, Safari, and Phone. Communication tools are expanded with Call Screening, Hold Assist, message screening for unknown senders, polls, and conversation backgrounds. Updates also extend to Apple Wallet, Maps, Music, and the new Games app, which provides a personalized gaming hub.
iPadOS 26 introduces a new windowing system that allows fluid resizing and placement of app windows, along with enhancements to the Files app such as an updated List view, the ability to drag folders into the Dock, and more customization options.
macOS Tahoe 26 brings updated Control Center with greater personalization, while Spotlight offers new browsing views for files and apps, improved search, and the ability to perform quick actions such as sending emails or creating events. Shortcuts are enhanced with intelligent actions and direct access to Apple Intelligence models to automate complex tasks, while Live Activities from iPhones can now appear directly on Mac for real-time updates across devices.
Meanwhile, watchOS 26 adds Workout Buddy, which delivers AI-powered motivational speeches, a redesigned Workout app, and Smart Stack hints. Live Translation is also supported, while a new wrist flick gesture allows users to dismiss notifications; the Notes app is also being introduced to Apple Watch for the first time.
tvOS 26 now supports automatic profile display when Apple TV wakes, making it easier to access personalised playlists and Watchlists. Apple Music Sing introduces iPhone as a handheld microphone for the TV, with the ability to amplify a user’s voice during performances.
Finally, visionOS 26 introduces new spatial features including persistent widgets, more realistic Personas, and spatial scenes with lifelike depth for photos. Safari gains spatial browsing with support for 3D objects, and users can share Vision Pro experiences in the same room for entertainment or collaboration. The update also enables iPhone unlocking and viewing while wearing Vision Pro, adds a new interactive Jupiter environment, and supports native playback of 180-degree, 360-degree, and wide field-of-view video from select action cameras.
