After Commant Prompt, File Explorer – Notepad is apparently the next to receive tabbed UI implementation for Windows 11.

A screenshot was posted on Twitter by Microsoft’s employee (which has since been taken down) has shown the Notepad with tabs shown on top of the window. Note the giant “Confidential” warning that says “Don’t discuss features or take screenshots”.

While the screenshot is all there is to it – it’s not difficult to figure out how it’d work. Like the Windows File Explorer, opening a new file or a new window will spawn a new tab instead of a new window, which helps to reduce clutter if you have multiple files opened at the same time.

It’s unclear whether this update will go past the Insider channel to ship in next Windows update, or rather a standalone update that will arrive as soon as the testing is complete.
