Chinese state-owned automaker Dongfeng Motor is opening its doors to the Malaysian market for its luxury subsidiary VOYAH, with plans to introduce its VOYAH DREAM 9 flagship MPV to our shores in the first quarter of 2027 via local Dongfeng distributor, Volt Auto.
In China, the vehicle is offered in three variants (Ultra, Ultra+ and Lizun Edition) with plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrain options, priced from RMB 419,900 to RMB 529,900. VOYAH DREAM 9 is positioned as Dongfeng’s entry into the RMB 500,000 premium MPV segment, built around use cases including business hospitality, business travel and family mobility.
VOYAH DREAM 9 Features
The lowest variant, confusingly named “Ultra”, is aimed at family use, with eight-system redundancy, seven-layer frontal and five-layer rear collision protection, three-chamber air suspension, dual-valve EDC damping and HUAWEI Qiankun ADS 5 as standard. Its second-row seats support rotation, zero-gravity mode and massage function, and the chassis can lower automatically for easier entry. Other family-oriented features include baby-friendly interior materials, an air purification system, a 21.4-inch ceiling display, a 13L dual-door refrigerator and external power supply capability.
The Ultra+ variant is designed for businesses, with a star-inspired illuminated grille, dual-color DLP headlights, a welcome light carpet, a suede headliner and ambient lighting. It includes powered privacy curtains for the second row as standard, with intelligent dimming privacy windows available as an option; this is also the only model in its category offering ventilation, heating and massage across all seating rows. At the top, the Lizun (礼尊) Edition gets a crystal retractable emblem a la Rolls Royces, a two-tone body finish, “Dragon Scale” detailing, a “Gilded Twin-String” waistline and a floating wheel design.
VOYAH says the design follows a “Bold, Fluid, Elegant” language, guided by a concept its calls “Galaxy of Heaven and Earth.” The retractable emblem contains 2,520 cut facets and rises when the vehicle is in use. Lighting features extend across the vehicle, including HUAWEI XPIXEL dual-megapixel headlights with a combined 2.6 million pixels, which can project navigation arrows, lane-departure warnings and pedestrian crossing markers, in addition to welcome animations.
Chassis & Safety
On the technical side, the VOYAH DREAM 9 uses HUAWEI Qiankun ADS 5 and HarmonySpace 6, supported by one 896-line dual-optical path image-grade LiDAR, three solid-state LiDAR units and 37 sensors in total. Safety redundancy spans eight systems, including perception, computing, braking and steering. The operating range of AEB, lateral collision prevention, eAES and rear AEB systems has also been extended.
The chassis draws on Dongfeng Motor’s manufacturing background, combining three-chamber air suspension, dual-valve EDC damping, VMC vehicle-domain control and 10-degree bidirectional rear-wheel steering. The body structure includes seven-layer frontal and five-layer rear collision protection, along with 11 airbags across all three rows. All variants use an 800V high-voltage platform; plug-in hybrid versions carry a 65kWh battery supporting 5C fast charging (20% to 80% in 12 minutes), while the all-electric version uses a 120kWh battery. The battery pack includes 16 layers of structural safety protection.
So far, VOYAH DREAM 9 received more than 30,000 pre-orders within 48 hours of opening pre-sales, with the Lizun Edition accounting for more than half of that total, and more than 20,000 orders coming from existing VOYAH DREAM owners upgrading their vehicles.
Factory Tour In Wuhan
Ahead of the DREAM 9’s debut, VOYAH hosted international media, including representatives from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and mainland China, on a tour of its manufacturing facilities in Wuhan on 21 September. The group visited the VOYAH Huangjin factory, where automated overhead transport systems and AGV robots were shown operating on the production floor, alongside digital tracking screens for individual vehicles.
VOYAH said the Huangjin and Yunfeng factories have a combined annual capacity of 450,000 vehicles, with the ability to produce one vehicle every 40 seconds using a mixed production line for sedans, MPVs and SUVs. Media also visited a 30,000 square meter User Center adjacent to the Huangjin factory, which combines vehicle displays, customization, after-sales service and fast-charging facilities, and several international attendees said they were interested in VOYAH’s direct-sales model.
VOYAH has said it has entered 40 countries and regions with more than 240 overseas sales and service outlets, and has outlined plans to expand further in Europe, the Middle East and right-hand-drive markets.
