RHB Bank is now integrated with PayNet’s cross-border QR payment network, enabling RHB merchants across Malaysia to accept QR payments from participating regional banking applications and e-wallets. The RHB cross-border QR payment move expands the acceptance footprint for merchants, connecting them to a growing ecosystem of international payment apps used by visitors from across the region.
RHB Bank Joins Cross-Border QR Payment Network
The integration is built on PayNet’s expanding cross-border QR infrastructure, which links Malaysia’s national payment rail to regional banking and e-wallet platforms. Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) operates as the national payments network and central infrastructure provider for Malaysia’s financial system, acting as the backbone of domestic, and increasingly, international QR-based transactions.
With this integration, RHB merchants are now positioned to serve international shoppers (covering China, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, and South Korea) who prefer paying via their home country’s banking app or e-wallet, without requiring those customers to carry cash or a foreign card. The arrangement reduces friction at the point of sale for both merchants and travelers from participating countries.
RHB customers can already make QR payments in Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Thailand through the RHB Mobile Banking app, allowing cashless payments without requiring multiple payment apps. Note that all RHB merchants equipped with DuitNow QR Sound Box and Point of Sale (POS) systems can now accept cross-border QR payments.
