The DJI SDR Transmission 2 is official – as DJI’s latest entry under its professional video transmission system lineup, it is built on an upgraded software defined radio (SDR) platform; the system supports DCI 4K/60fps 10-bit HDR video at up to 50Mbps bitrate, with 35ms low latency and up to 4km of transmission range.

The DJI SDR Transmission 2 uses an integrated transmitter-receiver design, meaning each unit can switch between TX (transmit) and RX (receive) roles without replacing hardware. A single transceiver in TX mode can connect to up to eight units in RX mode, each supporting remote control. For larger productions, up to 5 transmitters and 40 receivers can operate simultaneously for complex high-resolution multi-camera setup.
The main unit weighs approximately 136g, keeping the payload light on handheld stabilizers; an optional expansion board adds an SDI port, an HDMI video port, and four USB-C ports, along with SDI metadata pass-through support for mainstream cinema cameras. An optional cage accessory is also available for rugged outdoor environments such as car mounts, with cable anti-detachment design and additional mounting points.
The system’s Auto Channel 2.0 feature allows DJI SDR Transmission 2 units to recognize each other and intelligently allocate frequency bands, which should reduce the need for manual frequency planning. The system can hop channels automatically based on on-site interference conditions, and if needed, more accurate frequency-scan readouts and channel-conflict diagnostics are also included for troubleshooting.
The DJI SDR Transmission 2 eliminates the traditional process of rebooting and repairing to switch between camera feeds – users can tap the transceiver or use the Ronin app to switch feeds instantly. The transceiver supports video output via SDI, HDMI, or DisplayPort for professional monitors, and USB-C for mobile monitoring on phones or tablets. The system also supports PTP control for compatible cameras, letting users adjust aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, and trigger recording through the app.
Power options include NP-F batteries rated between 6.8V and 8.4V, and standard USB-C chargers at 15V/3A. Users with compatible DJI gimbals including the RS 5, RS 4, RS 4 Pro, RS 3 Pro, Ronin 2, or Master Wheels can mount the transceiver directly and draw power from the gimbal, removing the need for a separate battery. The device is also compatible with RS gimbals and Ronin 2 and Master Wheels more broadly for those already in the DJI ecosystem.
The DJI SDR Transmission 2 is now officially available in Malaysia. The standard unit is priced at RM1,329, while the Combo configuration is available at RM2,349.
