ZTE’s newest mobile hotspot is a rather unusual one – the ZTE U15S, now launched in Malaysia, is a portable mobile hotspot device that combines global roaming coverage across 150+ countries, a Wi-Fi 6 hotspot for up to 32 simultaneous connections, and a 10,000mAh power bank in a single pocketable unit. Pretty useful for frequent travelers that needs proper space-saving in their baggage.
ZTE U15S: Specs & Key Features
At the core of the ZTE U15S is the ZTE V3E-A53 dual-core chip paired with OFDMA bandwidth allocation, enabling up to 32 connected devices simultaneously via Wi-Fi 6. The newer standard is also helpful in congested environments, such as airports, where devices in this category has largely stuck with Wi-Fi 5 short for a few fancier offerings on the market.
The ZTE U15S supports three operating modes, switchable with a single button hold in 3 seconds: Pocket Wi-Fi Mode broadcasts a Wi-Fi 6 hotspot to multiple devices at once, Power Bank Mode disables all network functions and uses the 10,000mAh battery to charge devices via 18W bi-directional fast charging through a universal Type-C port, and Airplane Mode that disables radio communications during takeoff and landing procedures.
The battery, ZTE claims, supports up to 26 hours of continuous hotspot use and up to 48 days of standby; meanwhile, Wi-Fi Direct connection can be made via QR code scan, which negates the need for manual password entry. The wired Type-C connection is also available as a low-latency, more reliable alternative for laptops, functioning similar to Ethernet cables.
For local connectivity in Malaysia, users can insert their own SIM card into the external SIM slot. The built-in global roaming function is for international use, covering 150+ countries and regions – users can scan to purchase a data package and connect immediately upon arrival. A notable feature is support for seamless access to international apps including WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Grab, Shopee, Waze, and ChatGPT even when travelling in China, without requiring additional network configuration.
The ZTE U15S features a 1.44-inch HD color display that shows QR codes, remaining data, battery level, and connection status without needing any companion app. A WebUI management portal at 192.168.0.1 provides deeper control including SSID and password customization, real-time traffic monitoring, firewall settings, SMS management, and over-the-air firmware updates.
It’s also tested for durability, too, which includes 1-meter six-face four-corner drop resistance, 6,000+ micro-drop tests, 72-hour temperature storage from -40°C to +70°C, 24-hour salt spray testing, 10,000+ Type-C insertion cycles, 80,000+ button press cycles, and 12kg compression resistance. The device carries a 1-year official warranty.
The ZTE U15S is available in Malaysia from 18 September 2026 in Grey at RM299 via Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop; it is also stocked at ZTE’s official offline outlets at IOI City Mall (Putrajaya), IOI Mall Puchong, Lowyat Plaza (Kuala Lumpur), and Plaza Merdeka Mall (Kuching, Sarawak).
