TP-Link Malaysia has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), marking the latest expansion of the networking brand’s industry-academia program in Malaysia.

Under the agreement, TP-Link Malaysia will deploy its Omada enterprise networking solutions within TAR UMT’s learning environment, where students will gain hands-on exposure to networking infrastructure and technologies used in real-world enterprise settings. The collaboration also opens access to technical workshops, industry knowledge-sharing sessions, and the Omada Certified Network Administrator (OCNA) certification pathways. TAR UMT students will have access to internship and industrial training opportunities with TP-Link Malaysia as well.
“Preparing future technology talent should begin long before students enter the workforce,” said Hugo Cai, Regional Director of TP-Link Malaysia. “Our collaboration with TAR UMT reflects this approach, bringing industry and education closer together to develop talent with both the technical foundation and practical perspective to keep pace with the changing demands of enterprise technology.”
Ts Lim Shen Huoy, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at TAR UMT, said: “This partnership strengthens our graduates’ technical capabilities and ensures they transition into the workforce as agile, highly competent technology specialists.” Both organizations will also explore collaboration in research, technical knowledge exchange, and faculty engagement, creating further opportunities for academic expertise and industry experience to intersect.
The latest partnership adds to TP-Link Malaysia’s existing network of academic collaborations, which includes Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), and New Era University College. The company aims to expand access to enterprise networking education across Malaysia’s higher education landscape as the network grows.
