MediaTek held its Tech Day event in Kuala Lumpur on 13 October 2026, launching the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600M as its latest flagship mobile chipsets for the upcoming flagship smartphones. During the event, vivo confirmed at the event that its upcoming X500 Series will feature the Dimensity 9600 Pro, with a local launch expected by the end of October 2026; OPPO has already confirmed its flagship will do the same earlier on.
vivo X500 & OPPO Find X10 To Feature Dimensity 9600 Pro

The Dimensity 9600 Pro uses a 2+3+3 All Big Core CPU configuration consisting of two Arm C2-Ultra cores running at up to 4.55GHz, three Arm C2-Pro big cores at 4.35GHz, and three Arm C2-Pro big cores at 3.1GHz. Compared to the previous generation, this delivers up to 17% higher single-core performance, 15% higher multi-core performance, and a 61% reduction in multi-core power consumption.
On the GPU side, the integrated Arm Mali G2-Ultra NX delivers up to 27% higher peak performance and 18% faster ray tracing, while reducing power consumption by 24% at peak load. The chipset supports gaming at up to 185FPS with upscaling and frame generation technologies available to boost framerates.
AI workloads are handled by a dual-NPU architecture paired with the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine. The NPU 1090 delivers 51% faster LLM prefill performance compared to the prior generation and supports Google’s on-device AISeal security architecture. This new architecture, MediaTek claims, allows the AI to shift from acting as a passive responder to a more proactive on-device AI companion.
Imaging is powered by the Imagiq 1290 ISP and AI Imaging Fusion Architecture, enabling capabilities such as 60fps subject tracking and 4K 120fps 10-bit Log video recording. vivo’s X500 Series is among the first devices confirmed to leverage these imaging features.
Dimensity 9600M And Broader Portfolio
Alongside the Dimensity 9600 Pro, MediaTek also announced the Dimensity 9600M. Built on the same platform technologies as the 9600 Pro, the 9600M targets the premium segment with comparable imaging, AI, performance and connectivity capabilities, giving MediaTek broader coverage across the flagship tier.

The event also showcased MediaTek’s mainstream and premium chipset lineup, including the Dimensity 7400, the Dimensity 8500 and the Dimensity 8550. These power devices such as the Tecno Camon 50 Ultra, the Xiaomi 17T and the OPPO Reno 16 Pro respectively. An interactive panel discussion at the event explored the practical role of AI in smartphones, focusing on how on-device AI can make everyday experiences more responsive and intuitive for users.
Pokdepinion: MediaTek is clearly not here to play second fiddle with this one.
