vivo X500 Series Debuts As The Brand’s Latest Flagship Smartphone

vivo has officially launched the vivo X500 Series in Shanghai, with the new lineup comprising three models: the vivo X500, vivo X500 Pro, and vivo X500 Pro Max. Another Pro Max in the sea of Pro Maxes, we suppose.

vivo X500 Series Launches In China

The flagship of the lineup, the vivo X500 Pro Max, debuts the jointly developed Sony LYTIA L910 sensor – this sensor achieves true 17 EV ultra-high dynamic range, which vivo claims sets a new record in mobile imaging history. The X500 Pro Max also carries a 200MP ZEISS APO Telephoto Camera paired with a 400mm equivalent vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, 1536-point multi-zone laser focus, and up to 30x Long Range Motion Snapshot with Anyplace Telephoto Tracking.

Stabilization is handled by the ZEISS TrueDynamic Main Camera system, which achieves 3-degree gimbal-grade OIS on the X500 Pro Max. Both the main and telephoto cameras on the Pro Max reach CIPA 7.0 Professional Stabilization. The vivo X500 Pro’s telephoto camera also meets CIPA 7.0, while the standard X500 achieves CIPA 5.5 on its telephoto unit.

Video is the headline capability of the Pro Series. The vivo X500 Pro Max supports 4K 240fps Cinematic Slow-Mo Video, while the entire Pro Series offers 17 EV TrueDynamic Log Video with 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding and support for the ACES color encoding system. A partnership with DaVinci allows Log footage from these phones to be color-graded in the same color space as professional cinema cameras. vivo and MediaTek (whose chipset will be powering the lineup) co-developed professional Log video hardware supporting 4K 120fps 10-bit Log burn-in direct output.

The Pro models also supports 4K 120fps AF Tracking Video, which can re-engage subject tracking even when the subject is momentarily obscured, and 4K Cinematic Portrait Video with unified beautification and HDR standards. For live streaming, the vivo X500 Series is the first lineup across all models to support 8K Native Live output, keeping color and perspective consistent between cover frames and video streams.

Six new cinematic video color styles are introduced across the series: Golden, Platinum, and Sunny Day for high-contrast lighting, alongside Paris Afterglow, Noir, and Amber. Each style is tuned through a self-developed color pipeline with separate optimization for people and scenery. Cinema mode on the Pro Series adds four creative movement options including Auto Framing Video, Vortex Shot, Super Slow-Mo, and Dual View.

The standard vivo X500 carries Sony LYTIA 828 sensor (shared with the X300 Pro) for its main camera, paired with ZEISS Gimbal-Grade OIS; its telephoto unit uses the Sony LYTIA 610 sensor, supporting 64MP resolution and 4K 120fps slow-motion video. The X500 also supports 4K 120fps 10-bit Log, 4K 120fps HLG, and 4K 60fps Cinematic Portrait Video across all focal lengths. It is also compatible with the 200mm equivalent vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2, a 153g accessory with a 96mm body covering 14 shooting modes.

On the chipset side, the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max both run on the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, MediaTek’s first chip built on the second-generation 2nm (TSMC N2P) process. It integrates vivo’s self-developed imaging chips V3+ and VS1+, along with professional Log video hardware and the Ultra Performance Imaging NPU 2.0. The standard X500 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9600M.

Following the global launch in Shanghai, the vivo X500 Series is expected to arrive in Malaysia in October 2026. Expect more information regarding local availability in the coming weeks.
