Apple is entering a new segment of smart home domain with its new Apple Home Collection, bringing a range of smart home accessories co-developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The lineup includes indoor and outdoor cameras, thermostats, temperature sensors, a video doorbell and a door lock, all of which can be set up with one tap on an iPhone and is managed through the Apple Home app.
Apple Home Collection Lineup

LG is responsible for four new security camera models that require a home hub such as Apple HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K. The cameras capture up to 2.5K video and recognize people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages, the footage of which is stored in the user’s iCloud+ plan for 10 days, with no separate camera subscription; built-in storage also keeps cameras recording in the event of Wi-Fi outages. On eligible plans, Apple Intelligence adds automatic video descriptions and natural-language footage search.
The LG Video Doorbell has dual cameras for visitors and packages, with a 2.5K front camera and a full HD bottom camera, plus a built-in spotlight. The Floodlight Cam has adaptive dual floodlights and color night vision, while the Outdoor Cam also offers color night vision and self-installation. The Indoor Cam tilts up to view the room when users check in and tilts down when the first household member returns home.

For home access, LG Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband to unlock automatically as a user with a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch approaches. It also supports tap-to-unlock, a PIN pad and a hidden backup key slot. The lock is Matter compatible, supports Aliro and works locally, so core functions continue without internet. It can pair with the doorbell in the Home app as a front-door system.
Two Smart Thermostats are offered, one from LG and one from Schneider Electric. Adaptive Temperature uses on-device intelligence from iPhone to adjust settings depending on whether someone is home, asleep or away. In the contiguous US, Clean Energy Guidance can shift heating and cooling to cleaner, lower-cost periods for users on a compatible utility plan.

The thermostats can read multiple rooms using new standalone temperature and humidity sensors from LG and Schneider Electric, or the sensors already built into HomeView, HomePod and HomePod mini. Both thermostats and sensors are Matter compatible and DIY-friendly, with on-device wire detection for installation.
Every product supports Thread to maintain connectivity if Wi-Fi drops, and updates its network credentials automatically if the home Wi-Fi changes. Siri can control all accessories, and routines such as a Good Morning scene can adjust the thermostat, tilt the indoor camera and start music together. Apple Retail also offers third-party installation from ADT for an additional charge in the US from this fall.
Apple Home Collection will be available from December 2026, with select products from early 2027, in the US, UK and Canada only.
Pokdepinion: Didn’t expect Apple to (sort of) enter this part of the market.
