SAIC Motor Malaysia is preparing to officially roll out the locally assembled MG ZS in Malaysia by the end of October 2026, following its preview at the KL International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026). The MG ZS will be offered in two variants: the MG ZS 1.5 Turbo and the MG ZS Hybrid+.
MG ZS Specifications
The MG ZS 1.5 Turbo is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 170PS (125kW) and 275Nm of torque. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive, returning a combined fuel consumption of 6.9L/100km. The variant also comes with a 55-liter fuel tank.
The MG ZS Hybrid+ uses a 1.83kWh NCM battery paired with a 100kW electric motor and a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, producing a combined output of 215PS (158kW) and 465Nm of torque. Mated to a three-speed Hybrid Transmission, it accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 8.7 seconds and returns a fuel consumption figure of 4.7L/100km, with a total driving range of up to 870km on a 41-liter tank.
The Hybrid+ system supports EV mode at speeds of up to 80km/h under suitable driving conditions, and does not require plug-in charging. Both variants are positioned within the B-segment SUV class, where the MG ZS claims the title of largest vehicle by dimensions: 4,430mm in length and 1,818mm in width.
Inside the cabin, occupants are greeted with a 12.3-inch floating infotainment display, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof. The cabin features perforated leatherette seats in an all-black interior, with premium materials and ergonomic design aimed at improving headroom, legroom, and storage convenience. Boot space stands at 443L, expandable to 1,457L with the rear seats folded flat; the exterior sports Connected Hunter Eyes headlights, a black grille, rear LED taillights, a rear spoiler, and contemporary alloy wheels.
All MG ZS variants come equipped with MG PILOT, the brand’s suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) 2.5, which includes Intelligent Cruise Assist (ICA) and a Driver Fatigue Monitoring System (DFMS). The MG iSMART connected car platform allows owners to remotely access and control vehicle functions, including keyless entry, from their smartphones. The B-segment SUV is available in four exterior colors: Flare Red, Silver, Andes Grey, and York White.
Estimated pricing for the MG ZS stands at RM105,000 for the 1.5 Turbo and RM115,000 for the Hybrid+ (Peninsula Malaysia, excluding insurance). Early bookings can be placed via the official MG Malaysia website, and the first 1,000 bookings qualify for early bird benefits worth RM3,000 alongside five years of complimentary maintenance.
