Do you like spending money? If the answer leans to a “yes”, then Sony has a smartphone for you. The new Sony Xperia 10 VIII comes with several new features – a brighter display, louder stereo speakers, and a new shortcut for payment apps so you can pay for things in an instant.
Meet Sony Xperia 10 VIII
The Xperia 10 VIII sports a display that is approximately 50% brighter than the Xperia 10 VII, though the brand made no mentions of the panel’s exact brightness values; it is otherwise the same shape and size as its predecessor. The front-facing stereo speakers have been revised with upgraded tuning, delivering around 15% higher overall volume compared to the previous model and bass that is 30% more powerful.

As a matter of fact, the entire smartphone construction is exactly the same as before, and so are the internals. No changes in the chipset department means it’s the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 running the show, and the same 50MP+13MP rear camera combo is featured on the same camera bump. Compare the specs between the two and you’ll find out the Xperia 10 VIII is effectively the exact same thing as the Xperia 10 VII, with a rather insane RM800 premium – though you can most certainly blame one certain OpenAI CEO for this one.
One seemingly unique feature in the new model is a “Rewards & Pay” shortcut, which lets users double-press the power button to instantly access frequently used payment and rewards apps. Traditionally, this shortcut is reserved for opening the camera app, though Sony does have the luxury of having a dedicated camera shutter button so it can repurpose the power button for this function instead. Good news if you use Touch ‘n Go eWallet a lot, we suppose.
The Sony Xperia 10 VIII is available in Sony Stores at Lalaport BBCC, The Curve, and IOI City Mall, as well as online via Sony Malaysia’s official website, priced at RM2,999, and comes in three colors: Frozen White, Frosted Grey, and Misty Lilac.
Sony is also offering a Hello Kitty collaboration model set, limited to just 30 units – each set bundles the Xperia 10 VIII with an exclusive Hello Kitty sacoche-style shoulder bag and a Hello Kitty tote bag, both designed as Sony Store originals. The set is available exclusively through Sony Store and Sony Store Online.
