This cutting-edge technology seamlessly integrates the blade battery into the vehicle’s structure, ensuring stability and safety across diverse conditions. Tengku Zafrul urged multinational EV companies with existing investments in Malaysia to consider the country as a long-term business hub, leveraging its compelling proposition to expand investments and tap into the fast-growing ASEAN EV market.

He emphasized Malaysia’s efforts to create an enabling environment for the EV ecosystem, from providing incentives for local assembly and manufacturing to facilitating the development of the nation’s EV charging infrastructure. The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry aims to double the number of EV charging stations nationwide by the end of the year, reaching 2,000 units.

Tengku Zafrul reassured that the increase in sales and service tax starting March 1 would not impact EV sales, as the government has exempted the tax on EV purchases until 2025 to promote industry development. Additionally, a new EV road tax structure has been finalized and will be announced shortly by the national EV steering committee.
