FUJIFILM Malaysia has introduced the FUJIFILM X-M5 mirrorless digital camera, alongside two new lenses, the FUJINON XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II and the FUJINON XF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR.

FUJIFILM X-M5

The FUJIFILM X-M5 is the lightest model in the current X Series, weighing approximately 355g. It features a 26.1-megapixel X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and the X-Processor 5 image processing engine, as well as supporting subject detection autofocus powered by AI and can record 6.2K/30P videos with 4:2:2 10-bit color. Additionally, the X-M5 introduces a “Film Simulation” dial for users to explore different color tone expressions, as well as the new ‘9:16 Short Movie Mode’ intended for short video formats.

FUJINON Lenses

Moving on, the FUJINON XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II lens is a redesigned version of its predecessor, offering a 37% weight reduction while maintaining its aperture characteristics. Weighing approximately 410g, it supports a constant F2.8 aperture across its zoom range, from 16mm to 55mm (equivalent to 24-84mm in 35mm format); the lens also features ‘Aperture Click Switch’, the first for the XF series that allows for smooth brightness transitions during aperture adjustments – useful for videography.

Finally, the FUJINON XF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR lens is a super-telephoto prime lens with a 500mm focal length (equivalent to 762mm in the 35mm format). It uses APS-C format that provide a 1.5x crop factor to provide better magnification, and the entire unit weighs at 1,335g. Besides that, the lens includes a 5.5-stop optical image stabilization system for enhanced stability, and pairing it with select FUJINON teleconverters allows it to extend its focal length to a maximum of 1000mm (1524mm in 35mm equivalent).

In terms of availability, both FUJINON products will be available in Malaysia in the coming weeks, though there’s no word on when the X-M5 will be available. No pricing information has been announced at the time of this writing.

Pokdepinion: The 500mm lens is quite a bit smaller than I’d imagine.
