Insta360 said it has spent 10 years selling 360 cameras, and for this occasion the company has announced the new Insta360 X6 as its latest flagship model. Highlighted features include new hardware, native 8K capture, dual custom Sony sensors, and a built-in AI editing system.

The Insta360 X6 uses custom dual Sony 1/1.1″ square sensors, offering what Insta360 describes as a full 1-inch equivalent in 360 imaging (33% more sensor area than the X5, with approximately four times the light intake per frame). A triple AI chip configuration pairs one 8-core 3.3GHz 4nm processor with two dedicated imaging chips, delivering a claimed 500% more computing power than the X5, a 106% faster clock speed, and 35% lower power draw.
Its low-light mode using two ambient light sensors to reduce flicker, alongside AdaptiveTone 2.0, which meters each lens independently and captures two exposures per frame for wider dynamic range. The Insta360 X6 is also the first 360 camera with native in-camera Dolby Vision (with 10-bit color), using frame-by-frame dynamic metadata analysis to set contrast and brightness on-the-fly.
Insta360 X6 operates across three modes: a 360 camera at native 8K50fps, a subject-tracking flat camera via InstaFrame 2.0 that outputs clean 4K video, and a single-lens action camera at up to 5K60fps or 4K120fps for slow motion. There’s also a wide-angle option that covers 170 degrees of field-of-view at 5K30fps. There are over 100 accessories to pair with the new camera, including ones that are compatible with previous-generation models, including the Invisible Dive Case Pro that allows the unit to go 60m deep (the bare unit can go as deep as 20m on its own).
The 2600mAh Xtreme Battery supports 140 minutes of 8K30fps recording (51% longer than the X5) and charges from empty to 80% in 24 minutes, and it’s also capable of operating down to -20°C as well. The 2.32″ OLED screen reaches 1200 nits of peak brightness which should be sufficient for outdoor use, and you get 47GB of usable built-in storage out of 64GB total. Audio is handled by a four-mic 360 omnidirectional windproof array, with a separate Hidden Engine Mic tuned for motorcycle recording.
AI editing is handled on-device by Insta360 PanoMind, which is trained on over 10,000 hours of footage across 30-plus scenarios; though the onboard AI model only generates a highlight edit while the camera charges, presumably to avoid consuming too much battery doing the processing. Auto Edit 2.0 assembles a complete edit from one or more clips in a single tap, while Moments Pro, a cloud-side editing tool built with Google Gemini, is also available for user-directed edits.
The Insta360 X6 is now available (in black and white colors) – Standard Bundle is priced at RM2,899, with the Essentials Bundle at RM3,249. Buyers who purchase and activate before September 30, 2026 receive one year of Insta360+ Premium cloud storage at 500GB and three months of Moments Pro (two clips per month) at no additional cost, while Insta360 X5 or X4 Air buyers in the same window receive one year of Insta360+ Premium at 200GB.
