Microsoft Reportedly Working On Multiple Xbox Handheld Prototypes
Xbox handheld may be real – if rumors are anything to go by. Windows Central’s Jez Corden spoke during the Xbox Two podcast that Microsoft is working on multiple Xbox handheld prototypes designed to play Xbox games natively.
Keep in mind that while prototypes exist, this is no indication that Microsoft would eventually bring it to the market. Given that there are multiple prototypes that exist currently likely means that the company hasn’t settled on one final solution, which likely indicates a very early stage of development of the device.
However, Jez Corden believes that this time Microsoft may actually introduce the device for various reasons. Firstly, the popularity of Valve’s Steam Deck has successfully opened a new market to the mainstream; and secondly, nobody has debunked any rumors pointing to an Xbox handheld so far, which means the device is, at the very least, a consideration from Microsoft.
Also worth noting is that the release date is unlikely within this year, and next year is unlikely as well. With how limited the leaks have gone so far, one can assume that many things have yet to be set in stone – which is not worth the leakers’ effort to leak them to the public.
