Acer Updates Its Aspire Vero Lineup, Promises Carbon-Neutral Commitment
Acer reaffirms its dedication to carbon neutrality with the Aspire Vero laptop line – starting from the new Aspire Vero 16 (AV16-51P). Adhering to international standards for carbon footprint calculation, its carbon footprint is minimized throughout the entire lifecycle of the device, from manufacturing, shipping, usage, to recycling.
“To help tackle the increasing challenges posed by climate change, on the product side, Acer is proposing ‘conscious technology’ designed and made with consideration for the future,” said Jerry Kao, COO of Acer Inc. “On the corporate side, Acer has joined the RE100 initiative and committed to achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2035. We have also pledged to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.”
The Aspire Vero laptops are designed with sustainability in mind, and the latest model in the form of Aspire Vero 16 (AV16-51P) showcases improvements, including a chassis made from over 60% recycled plastic, which is doubled from 30% in the previous generation. The chips are part of that equation too, and here Acer employs the all-new Intel Core Ultra CPU that aims to achieve high levels of power efficiency.
Elsewhere, Acer’s shipping practices incorporate biofuel in sea containers to reduce emissions, while the package itself comes with fully recyclable material. The AcerSense battery management software focuses on energy efficiency with various performance modes; the laptop also uses standard screws for easy maintenance, promoting repairability and longevity of the laptops.
Acer says it will retire high-quality carbon credits to achieve carbon neutrality, as the new emission mitigation efforts are being implemented. The company will showcase the laptop at the coming CES 2024 event in Las Vegas, US.
