Alienware, Dell’s gaming-focused brand, recently unveiled a new line of gaming laptops at CES 2023, which coincided with the launch of 13th Gen Intel Core HX processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs for laptops. One of the standout devices from Alienware is the m18, featuring an 18-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, making it the brand’s most powerful release to date.

Currently available in Malaysia, customers have a choice of fitting the 4.04 kg laptop with either the Core i7-13700HX 16-core processor or the higher-end Core i9-13900HX 24-core option. Three GPU options are also available including the GeForce RTX 4060, RTX 4080, and RTX 4090.

In terms of display, the m18 comes with a 165Hz panel with QHD+ (2560 x 1600) resolution or an ultra-fast 480Hz panel, although the latter only has Full HD+ (1920 x 1200) resolution. The base model m18 with a Core i7 CPU, RTX 4060 GPU, QHD+ panel, 16GB RAM, and 512GB PCIe NVMe solid-state drive is listed at RM11,999. However, strongest m18 variant with Core i9, RTX 4090, 64GB RAM, 4TB SSD, and Cherry MX low-profile mechanical keyboard costs around RM36,888.30.

For customers who want a smaller package, there is the Alienware m16, which comes with a 16-inch display. The m16 has similar hardware options as the m18, but also includes an RTX 4070 GPU and a QHD+ 240Hz panel, which is limited to configurations that have a Core i9 and RTX 4080 combo.

The base specs for the m16 include a Core i7, RTX 4060, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD, priced at RM10,999. The maximum specs for the m16 with Core i9, RTX 4090, 64GB RAM, 4TB SSD, and Cherry MX keyboard costs RM22,018.30.

Although the estimated delivery date shown on Dell Malaysia’s website is April 19th, the site states that orders might arrive earlier. However, it is important to take note of this information if planning to order these new Alienware gaming laptops.

Pokdepinion: As much as I would like the top spec one, I’m not sure how to feel about buying a laptop that costs as much as a base model Perodua Axia. I’d probably need a loan just like a car, albeit a shorter duration.
