ASUS ExpertBook B7 Flip Preview and First Impressions
Recently, we got an opportunity to play around with the ASUS ExpertBook B7 Flip. While it wasn’t long enough to be a full-fledged review, we figured we could share our brief experience with you in case you or your workplace might consider getting one. So without further ado, let’s dive right into it.
ASUS ExpertBook B7 Flip Preview and First Impressions
Solid Build with Convenience
The ASUS ExpertBook B7 Flip is a pretty sturdy ultraportable productivity laptop, with the chassis being made up of magnesium-aluminum alloy and meets the MIL-STD 810H durability standard. This doesn’t come at the cost of having a bulky laptop either as it’s still relatively thin and weighs a mere 1.47kg, making it easy to bring around.
As an added touch of convenience, it comes with the ASUS 360° ErgoLift hinge, which allows the display to be flipped around up to 360° and still get that added lift when using it as a standard laptop for improved airflow. In case you’re wondering, the hinge has been reinforced and tested with over 30,000 open / close cycles without issues, so you can use it for a long time without worries.
Touchscreen Support with ASUS Pen
Given the nature of the ASUS ExpertBook B7 Flip, it’s no surprise that it comes with touchscreen support for added convenience. To really make full use of the feature, you can get the ASUS Pen which supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and MPP 2.0. The laptop even has magnets on the right side of the screen so you can conveniently place it there while not in use.
Great Connectivity Options Complete with 5G
One of the major plus points of the ASUS ExpertBook B7 Flip is its array of connectivity options. For wireless, you have a Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and even 5G support, which means you can stay connected wherever you are. In the case of the Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E, there is a new 6GHz band with up to seven additional 160MHz channels to avoid being stuck in the same congested spectrum as Wi-Fi 6 devices, and two other 160MHz channels for legacy Wi-Fi devices. This will allow you to enjoy Gigabit speeds with ease.
As for wired, you get the following ports:
- 2 x Thunderbolt 4
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 1 x HDMI 2.0
- 1 x miniDisplayPort
- 1 x Smart card reader
- 1 x NanoSIM card reader
- 1 x 3.5mm combo audio jack
- 1 x Kensington Lock
In case you’re wondering, you can use a LAN cable with this laptop to get internet connection. However, you will need to make use of the included microHDMI to RJ45 LAN adapter for that. It’s likely being done this way in order for the laptop to be able to maintain a thinner profile.
ASUS PrivateView
With enterprise laptops, privacy and security has always been the top priority, especially with a lot of sensitive data at risk. The ASUS ExpertBook B7 Flip uses a 14-inch 2K+ (2560 x 1600) display with 100% sRGB colour gamut and 500 nits of brightness. The best part about it is the ASUS PrivateView feature, which will fade out your screen to a 45° viewing angle. This will prevent prying eyes from seeing what’s on the display, and it works great.
