Windows Report, the outlet that previously leaked quite a few Windows devices, has just revealed yet another laptop – this time from HP. The report claims the PC maker will soon release an all-new model called the OMEN Transcend 14, and it’s set to be the “world’s lightest 14-inch gaming laptop.”

Lightweight gaming laptops have been the mainstay in the laptop market for quite a few years now, which was first pioneered by ASUS’s critically-acclaimed ROG Zephyrus 14 released in 2020, offering unseen levels of performance and power efficiency over contemporary gaming laptops at the time. HP has previously released a similar model, the OMEN Transcend 16, albeit it shares mostly the same look as the vanilla OMEN models. The 14-inch model, however, will look vastly different.

Based on the images published by the outlet, the OMEN Transcend 14 does away with sharp edges entirely, and that includes the keycaps themselves. The RGB lighting is shined through the “pudding keycap” design seen from HyperX’s keyboards, of which the brand is conveniently also owned by HP (the HyperX logo is also seen on the palm rest region of the laptop). The chassis itself weighs at just 1.64kg, and measures at 313 x 233.5 x 17.99 mm.

In terms of hardware, it is expected to feature either the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H or the Core Ultra 7 155H, with GPU options ranging from RTX 4050 up to RTX 4070 (expect these cards to run very conservative on power, given their chassis size). One rather unpleasant trade-off of a laptop just 18mm thin is that you can’t install SODIMM modules, and you’ll have to pick either 16GB or 32GB of soldered LPDDR5X-7647 RAM from the get-go. On the positive side, you can opt for up to 2TB of SSD in a maxed-out configuration.

Elsewhere, you have a 14-inch 2.8K OLED panel with HDR capabilities, an FHD IR webcam, and a relatively limited set of ports. Based on the specs and images, we deduce that this laptop will come with two USB-A ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports (one needs to be occupied for charging through 140W USB-PD), a headphone jack, and a single HDMI 2.1 output. There will be two colors to choose from – Shadow Black and Ceramic White, and the outlet assumes it’ll be showcased at the upcoming CES 2024, which is less than a month away from now.
