Huawei Unveils New MatePad Tablets And MateBook Laptops, Coming To Malaysia

Huawei today is launching what they refer as “Super Device” in Malaysia. The launch lineup consists of two tablets under the MatePad brand and two laptops under MateBook family.

First is the flagship tablet from the Chinese maker, the MatePad Air. It packs a 11.5-inch 2.8K 3:2 144Hz display, and chassis only measures at 6.4mm thick, weighing 508g in total. It supports a unique dual-earbuds features that allows multiple compatible Huawei earbuds to listen to the same audio source. It comes with M-Pencil and Smart Magnetic Keyboard for enhanced note-taking. The second MatePad model is the more mainstream MatePad 11.5-inch, which comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and Histen 8.0 quad speaker array for audio.

On the laptop side, the latest MateBook D 14 comes with new Metaline Antenna that helps with signal interference – the company says the laptop can maintain connection for as far as 270 meters from the access points (routers). This 14-inch laptop comes with Intel’s 12th Gen processors, and weighs in at just 1.39kg.

Meanwhile, the MateBook 16s packs serious hardware: the laptop comes with a 16-inch, 2.5K touch panel that delivers up to 400 nits of brightness. Featuring Intel’s 13th Gen Core i9 processor and the new cooling system, it can deliver up to 60 watts to the processor for heavy workloads; it also comes with the same Metaline Antenna that maintains long-range wireless connections.

As for local pricing, the MatePad Air (LTE model only) will cost RM2,799, whereas the MatePad 11.5-inch comes with Wi-Fi and LTE versions, costing RM1,499 and RM1,699 respectively. The MateBook D 14 comes in two configurations – which costs RM3,199 for 8+512GB version and RM3,399 for 16+512GB versions. Finally, the MateBook 16s, with a single 16GB+1TB version will cost RM6,999.

Pokdepinion: Huawei putting the R&D to work with the new antennas – as for how useful it’d be, only real life tests will find out.
