Sony’s HT-AX7 Speaker Promises Portable Home Theatre Audio
Sony has announced the new HT-AX7 speaker, which they refer it as “Portable theatre system”. While on paper it does look like it belongs to the brand’s Extra Bass lineup, this is in fact, a home theatre audio system that was shrunk into a relatively portable package (the unit weighs 2kg).
The speaker features the main unit with two detachable rear speakers, which can be placed either on top of the main unit or anywhere in the room; it connects through Bluetooth and provides up to 30 hours of battery life. Using the 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, the speaker can create multiple virtual speakers in the front, rear and overhead, and pair it with the speaker’s “upmixer” algorithm to create the surround effect.
Since it’s wireless – you simply connect it to Bluetooth and it’ll get going. Both rear speaker units, which are detachable, automatically pairs to the main unit with no configuration required. The chassis meanwhile features fabric material made from recycled PET bottles, and the packaging uses a blend of bamboo, sugarcane and recycled paper, eliminating plastic in the packaging.
The HT-AX7 speaker will be available in this November for the Malaysian market, according to Sony’s press release.
