Apple has officially announced the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, boasting groundbreaking innovations that elevate performance and camera capabilities. Powered by the custom-built A18 chip, the new models promise an unmatched mobile experience, with enhanced camera systems, efficient performance, and improved battery life. With these upgrades, Apple once again raises the bar for smartphone technology.
iPhone 16 Series Powered by the Apple A18 Chip
At the core of the iPhone 16 lineup is the A18 chip, which brings a substantial boost in performance and efficiency. Built on second-generation 3-nanometer technology, it enables graphics-intensive gaming, accelerates computational photography, and supports Apple Intelligence for better privacy and security. The 6-core CPU is 30% faster than its predecessor, the A16 Bionic, making it ideal for running AAA games and demanding apps with ease. Furthermore, the new 5-core GPU delivers 40% faster performance and supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing for stunningly realistic gaming visuals.
Revolutionary Camera System with Camera Control
Apple has redefined smartphone photography with the iPhone 16’s powerful camera system. A 48MP Fusion camera with a 2x optical-quality Telephoto option gives users the equivalent of two cameras in one device. Additionally, the 12MP Ultra Wide camera with autofocus enables macro photography, allowing users to capture stunning close-up shots.
A standout feature, Camera Control, allows users to quickly interact with the camera system. With a tactile switch, force sensor, and capacitive touch interaction, Camera Control lets users easily launch the camera, take photos, and record videos. This intuitive system is designed to help users capture every moment with precision and ease. Apple also introduces next-generation Photographic Styles, allowing users to adjust colours, highlights, and shadows in real-time, providing more creative options.
Immersive Video and Spatial Audio
For video enthusiasts, iPhone 16 delivers an immersive experience with spatial photo and video capture. This allows users to relive memories in vivid detail, especially when paired with Apple Vision Pro. The iPhone 16 also features wind noise reduction and Audio Mix, which utilises advanced machine learning to enhance sound quality by separating voices and environmental noises.
Stunning Design and Durability
Available in two sizes—6.1-inch and 6.7-inch—the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus boast a durable and elegant design. Featuring Ceramic Shield, which is 50% tougher than previous generations, and water-and-dust resistance, these devices are built to last. The re-engineered internal design not only makes the iPhone 16 more durable but also allows for larger batteries, offering a substantial boost in battery life.
The new iPhone models will be available in five bold colours: black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine, catering to a wide range of personal styles.
Apple Intelligence: Smarter, More Personal
The iPhone 16 lineup is designed for Apple Intelligence, an advanced system that utilises generative models to help users complete tasks faster and more efficiently. This system understands personal context, ensuring user privacy while delivering helpful, relevant information. Siri has also been upgraded to become more natural and context-aware, enhancing its ability to assist users in everyday tasks.
Pricing and Availability
The iPhone 16 will start at RM3,999, with the iPhone 16 Plus starting at RM4,499. Both models will be available for pre-order on September 13, with general availability starting on September 20. Apple is also offering a trade-in program, allowing customers to save up to RM4,750 by trading in an eligible iPhone 12 or higher.

Pokdepinion: I can’t believe I’m actually saying this for an iPhone but that price is actually pretty reasonable for what you’re getting. Sure, people would want to flock more towards the Pro models but unless you’re going for super high storage variants, the price is actually good. Unlike a certain brand, they’re not tone deaf with the crowd.
