Apple has released iOS 16.4, bringing minor updates to the mobile operating system, including notifications for web apps on Safari and voice isolation for cellular calls. There are also new emoji, support for Sony’s PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge controller, and improvements to crash detection.

Apple has released the latest version of its mobile operating system, iOS 16.4, bringing several minor updates to improve the user experience. One of the biggest additions is the ability to receive notifications on web apps from Safari, which includes a badge count on the home screen and is configurable with Focus mode.

Another significant update in iOS 16.4 is the addition of Voice Isolation for cellular calls, offering improved ambient noise reduction. This feature was previously available on FaceTime and other third-party VoIP call apps.

The new version also includes 21 new emoji symbols such as hand gestures, pink heart, jellyfish, and Wi-Fi symbol. Photos get a new feature that can remove duplicate photos and videos across iCloud Share Photo Libraries. Additionally, Apple Books in iOS 16.4 brings back the page turn animation which was previously removed in iOS 16.

For gamers, iOS 16.4 now has built-in support for Sony’s PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge controller. There are also improvements to crash detection on the iPhone 14 series.

iOS 16.4 is available to install on iPhone 8 and later starting today. The update changelog includes various fixes, such as the issue where Ask to Buy requests from children may fail to appear on the parent’s device and the matter-compatible thermostats could become unresponsive when paired to Apple Home.
