iPhone 13 trade in

It appears that next year’s Apple iPhone 14 Pro might finally drop their signature notch on the display, and we even have renders giving us a glimpse of a possible look for it. Here’s what we know thus far.

No Notch on the Apple iPhone 14 Pro?

According to Korean news outlet The Elec, the iPhone 14 Pro models will no longer have the notch on the display. Instead, it will have a punch hole selfie camera instead. This will apply to both the Pro and Pro Max.

Previous reports suggested that all of the new iPhone models will ditch the notch but now, it appears to point towards it being the case only for the iPhone 14 Pro models. We have seen renders online which shows a standard punch hole selfie camera, but there are also renders of the punch hole being shaped more like a pill.

Regardless, Apple will need to figure out how to implement the Face ID sensors and emitter without the notch there. While the predicted 6.1-inch on the iPhone 14 Pro may be tough, the larger Pro Max variant would definitely have more room for them to play with. One thing’s for sure, we’re still going to get LTPO OLED displays so the 120Hz ProMotion display will return.

From what we know thus far, Apple may be getting more display panels from LG instead of relying on just Samsung. This will ensure that they will have adequate stocks for their devices when it finally launches in 2022. For now, we will report more on this as soon as information becomes available so stay tuned.

Pokdepinion: I certainly hope they bring something substantial next year, like a move to USB-C. This would be useful as it lets me streamline all of my gadgets and it would be easier for Android users to migrate as well.
