Apple is very obsessed when it comes to keeping secrets away from the prying eyes of leakers, but this time the proverbial Pandora’s box has been opened before it’s supposed to. A recent cyberattack on Tata Electronics – its supply chain partner in India – has leaked 630GB worth of data into dark web where, allegedly, the new iPhone 18 Pro has been revealed as a result.

If you’re second-guessing whether the smartphone shown in these leaked footages is even a new phone at all, we don’t blame you. Apple has a habit of maintaining identical designs for at least two generations, so it’s not too surprising to see the new iPhone 18 Pro continues the same design features as the iPhone 17 Pro, which is the first to feature full-width camera bump and a redesigned unibody chassis.
Besides the footage, many sensitive information relating to its hardware has been exposed as well. This includes component suppliers, detailed circuit board schematics, internal code names, decoy boxes (that’s how far Apple goes to prevent leaks), and many leaked files that comes with “Confidential” watermarks. In total, over 200,000 files were posted on the dark web, so there’s a chance more will be coming into the surface web in the coming days.
Evidently, this will be a difficult diplomatic exchange – especially for the incoming CEO John Ternus – between Apple and Tata as the former is rather famously known for cutting ties if partners are not up to its stringent standards. Granted, the reason Cupertino relied on Tata for a portion of its manufacturing supply comes down to US policies in hopes to reduce reliance towards manufacturing in China, so it is very unlikely anything drastic will happen; in fact, Reuters reported that both companies are working on “long-term measures.”
