ASUS has announced the launch of the ROG Phone 9 FE in Malaysia, with a name taking inspirations from a certain Korean smartphone maker – that said, ROG’s gaming phone lineup now welcomes a cheaper model with flagship-class performance and some cut-down specs.
ROG Phone 9 FE

Unlike the ROG Phone 9, the FE model is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC – the same one found in ROG Phone 8 – which is still plenty capable as far as gaming performance is concerned. Like the Phone 9 though, you do still get some of the bells and whistles including AniMe Vision display, ROG GameCool cooling system, AirTrigger ultrasonic sensor buttons, and more.
In terms of display, the ROG Phone 9 FE comes with a 6.78-inch E6 AMOLED display with 185Hz refresh rate, while its 50MP wide + 13MP ultrawide + 5MP macro triple-camera system with Nokia’s OZO Audio technology enables spatial audio recording through its cameras. You also get 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, along with 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage to boot, and the battery is also smaller at 5,500mAh (with 65W wired fast charging).

The ROG Phone 9 FE is available in Malaysia for RM2,999 through authorized ASUS mobile resellers. As part of the ROG Phone 9 Epic Raya Special campaign running from March 19 to April 30, 2025, customers purchasing any ROG Phone 9 series device will receive an RM300 Touch ‘n Go eWallet credit.
Pokdepinion: Pretty decent specs still, if you don’t mind the last-gen SoC.
