Google’s Pixel line of smartphones is a rarity here in Malaysia, mostly because the company never officially released it here for many years since the lineup’s inception. However, Google Malaysia released a teaser on X (Twitter) and YouTube earlier today that officially confirms Pixel 9 is coming to Malaysia, for the first time ever in the lineup’s history.
Pixel 9 Is Malaysia-Bound
According to Lowyat, the SIRIM database now contains three Google smartphones, and they are Google Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL. These three phones will be revealed officially on 14 August, but you probably knew everything about it given Google’s not-so-stellar record of keeping the phones from getting leaked everywhere on the internet. It’s a tradition now, isn’t it?
Here’s what the leaks tell us so far: storage options start at 128GB, with up to 1TB available on Pro variants. RAM is 12GB for the standard, and 16GB for Pros; and the largest model, the Pro XL, will come with a battery exactly 10mAh larger than the predecessor (which accounts for 0.2% improvement). But hey, every bit counts. In any case, Google is promising “24 hours of battery life” for all models, though it’ll have to go through real-life tests to verify such claims.
The teaser also confirms the leaks of its design, which features a rounded-rectangular camera bump that looks fairly thick from the clip shown. However, you can expect Google to put emphasis on its Gemini AI, as seen in the teaser clip above.
