Starting off he HONOR Magic V3 review with the unboxing, it comes in a rather large black box, reminiscent of last year’s model. There’s really nothing much on the box aside from the product name, giving it a very minimalist look. Inside the box, we found the following items:

  • Documentations
  • 66W HONOR SuperCharge charger
  • USB-C to USB-C cable
  • SIM ejector tool

  • The HONOR Magic V3 smartphone itself

Given how great its predecessor has been, I had high hopes for the HONOR Magic V3 and it managed to surprise me yet again. They managed to further refine the ideal foldable design, shaving off the thickness by 0.7mm when folded and 0.35mm when unfolded, while the weight has been shaved by approximately 10g. To be able to do this and still somehow cram a bigger battery capacity, an extra 150mAh to be precise, is an absolutely insane feat to achieve.

There are also other notable improvements, particularly in terms of durability, as it finally has an official IP rating, IPX8, which doesn’t guarantee dust resistance but assures that it can withstand continuous water immersion beyond depths of 1 meter. It also uses a 2nd generation HONOR Super Steel Hinge, which is said to be the strongest and slimmest hinger material in the industry, as well as using a “Special Fiber” aerospace material for the chassis, claimed to have surpassed materials like Kevlar and carbon fiber for strength and lightweight.

As expected from a flagship-caliber smartphone of 2024, the HONOR Magic V3 does have plenty of AI flavors injected into it, with the HONOR AI itself being powered by Google Cloud. Some of the AI features we noticed here are:

  • AI Face to Face translation: 10 language inter-language support, including Bahasa Melayu
  • AI HONOR Notes: 10 language translation, voice to text, and speaker recognition
  • Magic Portal: A better way to search things on Google and send things like pictures / text to other apps
  • Super Split Screen: Multiple apps on one screen, ideal for gaming
  • AI Magic Eraser: Generative editing for photos

Of course, there’s a whole lot more with the HONOR Magic V3 than just this but we’ll save all of that for the actual review. In the meantime, if you’re wondering about its specifications, check it out right below here:
