HONOR has announced that its X Series has maintained the title of Malaysia’s best-selling mid-range smartphone series for four consecutive generations, citing internal data showing the lineup held the top position for 37 consecutive months from February 2023 to March 2026, reaching a peak market share of 68% in Q4 2025. The company also said the X Series has accumulated more than 130 million users globally.
HONOR X Series Reigns The Midrange Segment
The Chinese smartphone maker attributed the sustained performance to consumer demand for smartphones combining durability, battery endurance and reliable performance at accessible price points. The company conducted a survey of Malaysian users to identify the key reasons behind the X Series’ popularity, with long-lasting battery life, durability and performance cited as the primary factors.
On battery, the latest model in the series, the HONOR X9d 5G, carries an 8,300mAh silicon-carbon battery. HONOR shared feedback from users including a delivery rider who said the X9c 5G lasted through a full working day of navigation and customer communication without requiring a power bank, and a work user who said the X9d lasted up to 12 hours on a single charge under typical daily use.
On durability, HONOR said the X9b 5G was the first smartphone to receive a Five-Star Overall Drop Resistance certification from SGS, while the X9d became the first to receive the SGS Triple-Resistant Premium Performance Certification covering drops, dust and water. The X9d also holds an IP69K water and dust resistance rating. User anecdotes shared by HONOR included a parent whose child repeatedly dropped the X9d without apparent damage, and a food delivery rider who used the phone in rain for several months without a protective cover.
HONOR closed the announcement with a teaser for the next model in the lineup, the HONOR X9e Pro, with further details set to be revealed on 7 September 2026. In case you aren’t aware, the company has already showed off the device during the National Day Parade (pictured above) with what looks to be a highly similar design to the X9d series.
