New Apple iPhone SE 2022 is Powered by A15 Bionic with 5G Support

After a long wait, the Apple iPhone SE 2022 has finally been revealed at the Apple Peek Performance event, sporting the A15 Bionic chip. Here’s what you need to know.

The new iPhone SE 2022 is powered by the A15 Bionic, the same one being used in the iPhone 13 series. According to Apple, they mentioned that it will be 1.8 times faster than the iPhone 8. The comparison is likely done with that instead of the more recent devices given the design of the SE devices. Unsurprisingly given the chip, it also comes with 5G support.

As for cameras, the iPhone SE 2022 is largely the same as its predecessor; 12MP f/1.8 wide angle main camera and a 7MP f/2.2 selfie camera. Thanks to the A15 Bionic chip, it’s capable of AI-based features such as Smart HDR 4, Deep Fusion, and Photographic Styles. The battery life is said to be improved, lasting 15 hours for video playback, which is a couple of hours longer than its predecessor.

Based on the pictures, you can easily tell that it’s basically the same design as its predecessor. It has a 4.7-inch Retina HD display and their signature physical Home button with Touch ID support. One major area of improvement is its durability as it now comes with Ceramic Shield, just like the iPhone 13 series.

The Apple iPhone SE 2022 will be available starting 18th March 2022 with retail price starting from USD $429. As for Malaysia, it will be coming a little later, on 25th March 2022, with pre-orders available starting 18th March 2022 at 9AM on the official Apple Malaysia website. The retail prices are listed right below here:

  • 128GB = RM2,099
  • 256GB = RM2,299
  • 512GB = RM2,799

On a slightly different note, the Apple iPhone 13 series will be getting two new colour options; Alpine Green for the iPhone 13 Pro and Green for iPhone 13. Pre-order for the new colour option will be opened on 11th March 2022, and it will be officially available starting 18th March 2022.

Pokdepinion: I still love their signature button and honestly, I’m quite tempted to change to this. I just wished there could be a version where the button is retained but it comes in a larger display, either same as the Max variants or close to it.
