As seen at the Apple Peek Performance event, the iPad Air 5 has been officially revealed. It’s essentially a refresh with newer hardware, most notably moving towards the Apple M1 chip from the A14 Bionic that powered its predecessor, the iPad Air 4. In case you’re wondering, this is the same chip powering some of the recent MacBooks and the iPad Pro.

From what we understand thus far, it has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, a power button with Touch ID built in, a 12MP front camera with Center Stage, and 5G connectivity support. It will also be running iPadOS 15 right out of the box, with iPadOS 15.4 expected to launch sometime next week.

Pokdepinion: Since they’re using the same chip found on the recent MacBooks, I’m actually tempted to see how powerful it truly is on an iPad. Needed a lightweight, versatile device that could serve as a MIDI player so this is great timing.
