Launching tomorrow (14 Jan 2023), Oppo’s next midrange model brings routine design updates.

The Oppo A78 5G is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 700 SoC (2+6 core) with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS2.2 storage – with extra 8GB RAM available through OPPO RAM Expansion for improved performance. Display-wise, this 6.56-inch panel is capable of 600 nits brightness, 90Hz refresh rate at HD+ resolution (1612×720 – 20.15:9 aspect ratio) with up to 100% DCI-P3 and sRGB coverage.

The 5,000mAh battery is fast-charge capable courtesy of Oppo’s proprietary 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging system providing full charge in 67 minutes. On the camera department, the rear comes with a pair of 50MP + 2MP sensor, with 8MP situated at the front under the V-shaped notch. On there you’ll find stereo speakers with what Oppo calls ‘Ultra Volume Mode’ that delivers double the volume as the company claimed.

The device comes with ColorOS 13 (Android 13), with dedicated gesture support including FlexDrop multitasking mode and more. The chassis measures at 7.99mm thick and weighs at 188g – with two colorways: Glowing Purple and Glowing Black.

Available in the sole 8GB+128GB configuration, the Oppo A78 5G will be available starting 14 January 2023 at the price of RM1,099 in all Oppo and various telco sales channels. Celcom and Digi users however will have to wait until 7 February to get the device through telco’s respective deals. Customers purchasing at any Oppo brand stores will be eligible to receive Oppo Band for free (worth RM159).

Pokdepinion: The resolution seems a bit underwhelming to me, certainly has seen phones cheaper that uses FHD+ panels.
