realme X3 SuperZoom packs a 5X periscope zoom lens from RM1999
realme has just announced the realme X3 SuperZoom, which packs last-gen innards but slaps on a new 5x periscope zoom camera on the back to offer up to 60x digital zoom capability. It’s essentially a rehash of the realme X2 Pro, albeit with some upgrades here and there to better compete with this year’s flagships from the competition.
Let’s start off with the main highlight: the rear cameras. realme equipped the realme X3 SuperZoom with the same 64MP main camera, although they have replaced the 13MP 2x zoom camera on the previous model with an 8MP 5x periscope zoom module. The 8MP ultra-wide camera seems to have dropped the macro focusing capability, and instead you get a 2MP macro camera with the realme X3 SuperZoom, in place of the depth sensor found on the realme X2 Pro.
realme also upgraded the battery to a 4200 mAh unit, but downgraded the charging rate down to just 30W instead of the 50W SuperVOOC charging that the earlier model offered. The display now touts a faster refresh rate of 120 Hz, although it is of the LCD variety instead of the OLED panel found in the realme X2 Pro.
As such, they were also forced to move the fingerprint scanner to the side, unlike the realme X2 Pro which touted a pretty good under-display fingerprint scanner. The 3.5mm headphone jack was also removed. You can have a look at the realme X3 SuperZoom’s specifications here:

realme will be throwing in 1-year extended warranties on both variants of the realme X3 SuperZoom, but the promo deals on them are quite different. On 2nd June, the 128GB variant of the realme X3 SuperZoom will be available for just RM1799, exclusively on the realme Lazada Flagship Store.
If you need more storage, the 256GB variant will be offered at realme’s authorized dealers on 6th June, with a complimentary pair of realme Buds Air.
Pokdepinion: RM1999 does seem rather steep for a Snapdragon 855+ device, especially with the rather serious compromises even when compared to its predecessor…
