Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Officially Unveiled
After a long wait, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE has finally been revealed. It is the successor to the Galaxy S20 FE and, as usual, a more value-focused version of the Galaxy S21, sitting somewhere between the base and plus model. Unlike the main S21 series however, this one comes with a polycarbonate body.
It’s powered by the Exynos 2100 SoC and features a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support. Apart from that, you will get a healthy 128GB /256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage and 8GB RAM. Keep in mind, there is no microSD slot here, so the only way you can expand its storage will be through a cloud storage solution.
As for the camera setup, which still uses the same contour-cut housing design, is essentially the same as the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus. It’s a triple camera setup consisting of a 12MP f/1.8 wide-angle camera, 12MP f/2.2 ultra wide-angle camera, and a 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom. The selfie camera is a 32MP f/2.2 wide-angle camera.
Apart from that, it weighs a mere 177g, comes with IP68 resistance rating, stereo speakers, under-display fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, 25W fast charging support, 15W fast wireless charging support, and no headphone jack. All of this will be powered by a 4,500mAh non-removable battery.
Unlike its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will only be available in 4 different colours; Lavender, Olive, Black, and White. There’s also no word on a Snapdragon 888 variant so if that does come to light, it will likely be released later on or will only be available in specific regions.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will be available starting 11th January 2021 onwards with a retail price of USD $699. As for Malaysian pricing, it will be retailing for RM2,899 for the 128GB variant, and RM3,099 for the 256GB variant.
Pokdepinion: Given my brief experience with the smartphone, it’s a pretty good upgrade over the S20 FE. I just hope that the localized pricing will be around the same as its predecessor, especially with the Galaxy S22 series launch just around the horizon.
